Uniquely drawn from a single majestic Spanish oak, sherry butt which formally held 30 year old Matusalem sherries from Jerez De La Frontera. This vintage "Finesse" has fused the citrus orange character of aged Dalmore with an aromatic spicy and dried fruits complexity rarely found today. An early 1970's   1/2 bottle of Redbreast 12 Year old distilled by John Jameson & Sons in their Bow Street Distillery in Dublin. Bonded , Matured and Bottled by Gilbeys of Ireland Limited who would buy the barrels and mature them in their own bonded whiskey stores. These old Redbreast bottlings used a high proportion of Sherry casks for the maturation process. Labeled as  ‘liqueur whiskey’ does not mean that this is a ‘liqueur’ as such, in the case of old Irish whiskeys it was used to denote a product of superior quality. A unique project celebrating the huge distilling history of Drogheda and their main memorable brand of Preston's. The distillery finally closed down in 1968 and the last barrels of Preston's were removed from the bonded warehouses and sent to Dublin to be lost forever. A specially selected Single Cask no 1310 from the Cooley Distillery was then infused with the spirit of Drogheda by mid-way through the maturation period, one of the last full bottles of Preston's whiskey known to survive was added to the cask, infusing this unusual and very rare whiskey with a sense of place and history. The whiskey has a rich mellow flavour of great depth and unusual complexity, with the strong character of the original Preston's. The bottle is presented in a tube with a certificate of authenticity.
